6 RF Safety Information The handset has an internal antenna located under th e bottom of the keyp ad. For optimum performance with minimum pow er consumption do not cov er the antenna are a with your hand. Hold th e handset betw een thumb and finger on t he main hinge section.

12 • There is no key lock available. This is common to clam shell desig ns because the keys are protected by closing th e flip. • Long press (press an d hold) the # key to engage m e eting mode (silent w ith vibrate).
13 1 Getting Started 1.1 Install the USIM Card The USIM card (Universal Subscri ber Interface Mod ule) is the small p lastic chip w ith gold contact s supplied by T elstra. Thi s contai ns your pho ne number and acts as a store fo r your contacts. It can be moved between d ifferent phones if r equired.
14 1.2 Insert the Battery Insert the bat tery caref ully w ith the cont a ct s lo cate d ag ainst t he g old s prings . The battery will only fit one w ay . Close the cas e by locating th e plastic cov er into the groov es and sliding the cover up to close it.
15 1.3 Switch the Phone on and Connect the Charger Press and ho ld the key for two second s to switch your ph one on. The phone wil l take app rox 30 secon ds to st art up.
16 1.4 Charging and Battery life • Only use the charger sup plied. • Normal charge time is 2-3 hours. • When not using the p hone for a lo ng period rem ove the batte ry and store i t in a cool d ry place. • Do not leave the phone connected t o the charger for more than 24 hrs.

19 1.6 Enter your Contacts There are s everal metho ds availabl e to enter c ontact s into your phone. T he Getting S tart ed Section deals w ith adding your cont acts manua lly and copying conta ct s from a previous SIM card. See th e Advanced Se ction for addi ng cont acts from y our PC and importing co ntact s from Microsof t Outlook.
20 Add a contact from a received call n umber If someone cal ls you and y ou wish to save their n umber as a new contact, perform the following: • Press the key to bring up y our Call List. • The last call received w ill be at the top of the list.
21 1.7 Edit your Contacts to Change Ringtones and Groups Once you h ave added som e contacts you can edit them to cha nge the Gr oup and to set a personalised R ing T one. • Contacts are normally stor ed in the de fault Group, U nclassified. • Y ou can move your contact s into other Group s: Mates, Family , Friends, Work, and VIP .
22 1.8 Set Speed Dials Once you h ave entered some contact s you can assign speed dial keys to your c hosen contact s: • Press Do wn A rrow Key (or other key if you hav e changed it ) to enter th e Contact s menu. • Use the Arrow Key s to scroll to the cont act you wish to assign a S peed Dial Number .
23 1.9 Make a Voice Call Dial the number manually • If required press the * k ey twice for t he Internatio nal Prefix ‘+’. • Enter the number on the k eypad an d press the key to make th e call. • When the call is conn ected you c an press the OK Key for Handsfree mode.

27 My Wo rds • From the text entry mode press the Options key and press OK for My Wo rds . • (The first time you use My W ord s press OK to add a new word). • Press Right Select Key to Ad d a new word then press Ok to Save it. • In My Wo rds you can pres s the Options key to Edit , Delete or Delete all wo rds.

34 1.14 Using File Manager All user file s and downloa ded conte nt are store d in the F ile Manager section of the handset. Browse the folders to find all the user acce ssible files th at are stored on t he phone and on the T -Flash Card. From the Home Scree n press Left Sel ect Ke y for the Main Menu , then go to T ools and press OK .

38 1.15 Make a Video Call • Y ou need good quality 3G coverage with at l east 3 bars o f signal to make and receive v ideo calls. • Ente r the phone numbe r using the keypad or fro m your Contacts list. • Press t o make a video call. • Press to end the call.
39 1.16 Receive a Video Call Y ou will only be able t o receive a video call when y ou have good 3G coverage. If y ou are b rowsin g or play ing video o r audio fil es the n the browser or med ia player w ill be suspended i n the background whil e you answer th e video call.
40 1.17 Set Alarms and Appointments Set Alar ms From the main me nu select To o l s then Al ar m and press OK . Configure y our alarm as req uired by foll owing the Alarm Setup S creen. • Press Ad d to create a n ew alarm. • Daily Alarm goes off every day .

50 1.25 Using the T-Flash card Y ou can increase the memory of the phone by addin g a T–Flash c ar d and use it to c opy files to and from y our PC to your h andset. Insert T - Flas h: • Open the T -Flash port c over on the side of the ph one. • Handle the card by the edges and care fully insert the card wi th the label sid e up.
51 Use a T -Flash card adapter to cop y files: Y ou can use an ex ternal USB card ada pt er to access the T -Fla sh ca rd u sing a PC. • Insert the T -Flash card i n the adapter and put t he adapter in the USB equi pment. • Insert the USB equipment into the PC.

54 2.2 Installing Join Me Please inst all Join Me from the CD before connecti ng your phon e to your PC . • Insert the CD provided into y our PC. • Th e CD should auto -s tart after a few seconds. • The installation shield will launch and guide you t hrough the inst all set up.
55 2.3 Use Join Me to Copy your Pictures to your PC If you have t aken some photos on your pho ne you can tran sfer them onto y our PC using Join Me: • Make sure your phone is switched on an d has completed i nitialization. • Make sure your phone is connected to y our PC, and Join Me has b een inst alled.

64 2.9 Connect to a Bluetooth Device Y our mobile includes Blueto oth which ca n be used to con nect your han dset to wirel ess headsets and hands f ree car kit s. Y ou can als o transfer file s between your phone and o ther Bluetooth dev ices such as another phone or a laptop.

68 2.10 Dial Up Networking via USB or Bluetooth Dial Up Networking (DUN) is a metho d to conn ect your PC to th e inte rnet u sing th e handse t as a modem.
69 Dial Up Networking over Bluet ooth Y ou can also use Bluetoot h t o connect th e h andset to y our PC. Bluetooth can be co ns id ered as a wireless re placement fo r the USB connect ion and does not rely on the USB drivers or Join Me soft ware. The Bluet ooth connecti on can therefore b e used with MAC computers if required.
